Visual Arts Foundations (for art majors) Instructors: Mr. Jeff Seckar-Martinez and Mr. William Cauthern
Visual Arts Foundations is a survey course in which students: 1) create art works in a variety of media using diverse techniques, 2) study the work of artists, stylistic periods and cultures (art history) and 3) develop an understanding of the critique process and learn to read and interpret the visual language (art criticism). Students will complete projects designed to teach and develop many techniques and skills including drawing, sculpture, printmaking, design, painting, ceramic and collage projects. While art production is the major component of the course, written assignments, tests, quizzes, readings, class discussions and process/participation activities are also essential to fulfill course objectives and grades for these are included in a student's assessment.
